Enrolling in the Apple Developer Program? What you need before you pay $99

The short answer

Apple's enrollment help page says you'll need an Apple Account with two-factor authentication turned on and be the legal age of majority in your region. If you're an individual or sole proprietor/single-person business, your personal legal name will be listed as the seller on the App Store. Organizations must be a legal entity and have a D-U-N-S Number. The annual fee is 99 USD, in local currency where available, and prices may vary by region.

What to do

  1. Turn on two-factor authentication for your Apple Account.
  2. Enrolling as an individual: enter your legal name, not an alias, nickname or company name. Entering it incorrectly will cause a delay in the approval of your enrollment. If you pay by credit card, use your own card.
  3. Enrolling an organization: you need a D-U-N-S Number (free in most jurisdictions), the legal authority to bind the organization to agreements, a work email address associated with your organization's domain, and a publicly available, functional website.
  4. If you haven't received a membership confirmation within 24 hours of your purchase, contact Apple with your Enrollment ID.

Good to know

  • Apple doesn't accept DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names or branches as organizations, and may ask for notarized business documents.
