The short answer

If people can sign up, they must be able to delete their account in the app. Apple's App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v) says: "If your app supports account creation, you must also offer account deletion within the app." A support email alone isn't the same thing.

What to do

  1. Add a Delete account option in settings.
  2. Test it: delete a test account and check it's really gone.
  3. Build it before launch. It's much easier than adding it later.

Good to know

  • Many privacy laws, like the EU's GDPR (right to erasure), point the same way.
