The short answer
Google's Gemini API deprecations page lists November 17, 2026 as the shutdown date for these preview models. Text-to-speech: gemini-2.5-flash-preview-tts, gemini-2.5-pro-preview-tts and gemini-3.1-flash-tts-preview, with gemini-3.8-flash-tts or gemini-3.8-flash-lite-tts as the recommended replacement. Live API: gemini-3.1-flash-live-preview and gemini-2.5-flash-native-audio-preview-12-2025, with gemini-3.8-live as the recommended replacement.
What to do
- Find out which Gemini model names your app calls. If a tool calls Gemini for you, check which model it uses.
- If it uses one of these preview models, switch it to the replacement Google lists before November 17, 2026.
- Ask your AI tool: "Find every Gemini model name this app uses. If any contains preview-tts, tts-preview, live-preview or native-audio-preview, show me where, and switch it to the replacement on Google's deprecations page before November 17, 2026."
Good to know
- Our tip: after switching, listen to the output again before you ship; a new model can sound different.
