Firebase AI Logic: App Check is required from November 2, 2026

The short answer

Firebase's release notes of October 27, 2026 set November 2, 2026 as the date Firebase automatically enforces App Check for Firebase AI Logic in your project, if it isn't already, to help protect the Gemini API. Firebase's FAQ says any requests to Firebase AI Logic without a valid App Check token will be blocked. That includes released app versions that don't have a production attestation provider implemented.

What to do

  1. Ask your AI tool to check whether your app uses Firebase AI Logic and whether App Check is set up with a production attestation provider.
  2. Add App Check to your app, release the update, and move your users to it before enforcement.
  3. Users still on app versions without App Check? In the Firebase console, go to Security, App Check, the APIs tab, find the row for Firebase AI Logic and set the Enforces date to temporarily delay auto-enforcement. The last possible date is January 21, 2027.

Good to know

  • Firebase warns that if you delay and don't enforce App Check, access to the Gemini API is vulnerable to abuse.
