How much do Apple and Google take from your app sales in 2026?

The short answer

Apple's App Store Small Business Program has a reduced commission rate of 15% on paid apps and Apple In-App Purchases, for developers who made up to 1 million USD in proceeds in the prior calendar year or are new to the App Store, and you have to enroll. Google Play charges 10% plus a 5% billing fee on the first $1M (USD) of annual earnings, from June 30, 2026 in the EEA, UK and US, and from September 30, 2026 in Australia and Japan. Fees change, so check the source pages before you price.

What to do

  1. Apple: if you qualify, enroll in the App Store Small Business Program. The 15% rate needs enrollment.
  2. If you pass 1 million USD in the current calendar year, Apple's standard commission rate applies to future sales.
  3. Google Play: Google's pages don't say whether the new tier needs enrollment, so check that you're enrolled.
  4. Re-check both fee pages before you set your prices.

Good to know

  • Google Play's billing fee applies when a user pays with Google Play Billing, or for the initial purchase of a paid app or game.
  • Other Google Play markets keep the older fee tiers.
