The short answer
In the US, Stripe's standard pricing is 2.9% + 30¢ per successful transaction for domestic cards. On a $10 sale that's 59¢, so you keep $9.41. International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%. The fixed 30¢ hurts most on small prices: on a $1 sale, the fee is about a third.
What to do
- Check Stripe's pricing page for your own country. Rates differ by country.
- Set your price with the fee in mind. The smaller the price, the bigger the share the fixed 30¢ takes.
Good to know
- The $10 and $1 sums are examples, computed from Stripe's US standard rate.
