The short answer
At Android Dev Summit on October 28, 2026, Google announced that Android Studio Rabbit 2 is stable, with Bring Your Own Agent: you can choose from over 40 coding agents, including Claude Agent, Codex from OpenAI, Junie and Google Antigravity. These agents have access to Android Studio tools like the Android Emulator, build systems and Logcat. Google also launched official Android plugins for Claude Code and Codex by OpenAI.
What to do
- Update to the latest stable Android Studio (Rabbit 2).
- Open the agent window and select your preferred agent, or choose one in Settings, Tools, AI, Agents.
- Authenticate, then send your first prompt.
Good to know
- Google also updated the Android CLI with device streaming, Compose previews, profiling and 30+ Android skills.
- Rabbit 2 adds an AI Change Review that reviews agent changes, pending commits and your Git log.
