The short answer
Vercel's knowledge base: "A pause almost always traces back to a budget cap you set, a usage limit, a policy violation, or a platform incident." If your Spend Management cap paused it (on Pro, with Pause Production Deployments on), raising the spend amount stops future pauses, but "it does not bring paused projects back on its own". You must resume each project manually.
What to do
- Paused by your Spend Management cap? Resume each paused project yourself, even after raising the amount.
- Over a usage limit on the Hobby plan? In most cases you have to wait until 30 days have passed before you can use the feature again.
- Paused for a policy reason, like commercial use on Hobby? Vercel emails you the details and next steps.
- Ask your AI tool: "My Vercel site shows 503 DEPLOYMENT_PAUSED. Walk me through checking Spend Management, my plan's usage, and my email for a pause notice, and tell me which of my app's features use the most Vercel resources."
Good to know
- Spend Management is for Pro and Enterprise. On Hobby, pauses come from usage limits or policy.
