The short answer
On Supabase's Free plan, the global file size limit for Storage can't exceed 50 MB. A bigger file fails with EntityTooLarge: "The entity being uploaded is too large." (status 413). On the Pro Plan and up, you can set the limit up to 500 GB in your Storage Settings. Each bucket can have its own maximum file size, but it can't be higher than the global limit.
What to do
- On the Free plan, keep files under 50 MB. Compress or resize them first.
- For files greater than 6MB, use TUS resumable uploads. Supabase recommends them for better reliability.
- Need bigger files? Move to Pro and raise the limit in Storage Settings, up to 500 GB.
Good to know
- Compressing or resizing first is our suggestion, not from Supabase's docs.
- We checked Supabase's own limits. We haven't checked Lovable Cloud's storage limits.
