The short answer
Credits that drop while you're not building are run credits: Lovable's docs count Cloud, AI gateway and connector usage from your app as run credits, while build and chat usage are build credits. You can ask Lovable what drives them, in the project chat or in Chats. Lovable reads the recorded usage, investigates the app's scheduled jobs, functions, database, storage, network, realtime, and AI activity, traces what it finds to the project's code, and suggests fixes. It makes a change only when you ask.
What to do
- See your run credits under Workspace settings, Plans & credit usage, Usage details, Run credits.
- In a project, the Optimize your usage button under More, Usage starts the investigation in Chat mode, where Lovable does not edit your project's code.
- Ask Lovable: "Why is this project using so many credits?"
Good to know
- In the workspace usage view, the Optimize your usage button appears when the workspace used more than 5 run credits in the last 7 days.
