The short answer

Lovable's payments docs: "Until all go-live steps are completed, live checkout will not work." So checkout can work in preview with test cards and still do nothing on your live site. Built-in payments run on Paddle or Stripe and need a paid Lovable plan. With Paddle, the steps are a readiness check of your live site, seller verification and a domain review.

What to do

  1. Readiness check: your live site needs a privacy policy, terms of service and a refund policy.
  2. Seller verification (KYC/KYB): Lovable says "Most users are approved within a day, but it can take several days."
  3. Domain review: Paddle reviews your live domain "to confirm it represents a legitimate product with real content and legal pages." A domain that Paddle fully rejects can only be restored by Paddle support, so finish your site before you submit.
  4. Ask your AI tool: "Before I go live with payments: check that my published site has a privacy policy, terms of service and refund policy linked in the navigation, and hide the checkout button in production until verification is done."

Good to know

  • These are the go-live steps for Paddle. Stripe's steps are different.
  • Paddle's help page says every domain or subdomain you launch checkout from needs domain review. The sandbox doesn't.
  • No approval time is guaranteed. Paddle's help page estimates 5-7 business days for manual reviews.
