The short answer
Lovable retired the Gemini 2.5 Pro, Gemini 2.5 Flash and Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite chat models for your app's AI features on October 20, 2026. Your app's requests for Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash go to Gemini 3.8 Flash, and requests for Flash Lite go to Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite. Your app keeps working without a code change, but the replacement can cost a different amount per request and can respond differently.
What to do
- In your Lovable project, open More, then AI. After a retirement date, the AI activity list shows the replacement model for requests that Lovable redirected.
- Lovable does not change the model in your app's code on its own, so switch it yourself.
- Ask Lovable: "Replace any deprecated AI models in this app with current ones."

- The retired model names: google/gemini-2.5-pro, google/gemini-2.5-flash and google/gemini-2.5-flash-lite.
