The short answer
Firebase's pricing page says that starting September 1, 2026, Remote Config has a no-cost plan and a pay-as-you-go tier based on daily usage. On Spark, fetch requests are no-cost up to 100,000 per day. On Blaze, they're no-cost up to 100,000 per day, then $0.06 per 10K requests between 100,001 and 10,000,000 a day, and $0.01 per 10K above that. Only fetch requests made directly to Remote Config count.
What to do
- Had Remote Config before September 1, 2026 and on Spark? Standard billing for these projects begins December 1, 2026, and Firebase recommends setting up Cloud Billing and upgrading to Blaze.
- For these older Spark projects, Firebase's pricing page says upgrading before November 15, 2026 extends the grace period to 5 months, with billing starting February 1, 2027.
- Older projects already on Blaze: the transition happens on February 1, 2027, with no action needed.
- To use fewer fetches, avoid very low minimum fetch intervals. The default recommended interval is 12 hours.
Good to know
- Once the grace period is over, a Spark project that exceeds 100,000 fetches a day gets 30 days of uninterrupted service, then throttling begins on the 31st day.
