Uploading your iPhone app? It must be built with Xcode 26 or later

The short answer

Since April 28, 2026, apps uploaded to App Store Connect must be built with Xcode 26 or later, using an SDK for iOS 26. And since September 9, 2026, iOS and iPadOS apps uploaded to App Store Connect must target iOS 13 or later. An update built with an older Xcode won't be accepted.

What to do

  1. Install Xcode 26 or later, rebuild your app and upload it again.
  2. Wrapping a web app with Capacitor? Capacitor 8 requires Xcode 26.0+.
  3. Using Expo? Expo's SDK table lists Xcode 26.2 or newer for SDK 55 and 26.4 or newer for SDK 57. On older SDKs, check which Xcode your build actually uses.
  4. Ask your AI tool: "Check this iOS project: which Xcode and iOS SDK does it build with, and what must change before I upload to App Store Connect?"
