The short answer
Since October 16, 2026, when you add or change a rule in your app, Lovable adds a small test for it and keeps it in your project, without being asked. A rule can be a price, a limit, a permission, a date, or who can do what. Before Lovable reports the work as done, it runs the tests that cover your change.
What to do
- Keep the test files: Lovable describes its testing tools as a way to reproduce issues, confirm fixes, and avoid regressions.
- Need tests for edge functions? Ask for them: Lovable writes edge tests only when you ask.
Good to know
- Lovable does not write tests for copy, styling, markup, or snapshots.
- Lovable writes these tests for your app's frontend. In new Lovable apps created from May 13, 2026, which use TanStack Start, it also writes them for backend logic that runs as part of the app.
