The short answer
Two-factor authentication is worth turning on: even if someone learns your password, or compromises your Google, GitHub, Apple or SSO login, they still can't get into your account without the code from your second factor. But Lovable does not provide backup or recovery codes. Your enrolled methods (authenticator app and phone) are the only ways to complete 2FA, so Lovable recommends keeping at least two methods configured to avoid getting locked out.
What to do
- Go to Account settings, Security, Two-factor authentication and click Enable.
- Choose an authenticator app (recommended) or your phone.
- Then use Add another method to set up the second one.
Good to know
- Lovable shows a dashboard banner if you log in with email and password and have not set up two-factor authentication. Since October 28, 2026, the banner opens the setup dialog directly.
- If you still get locked out, Lovable Support can help if you show proof of account ownership.
